June is usually a month of celebration around here. The weather turns, summer officially arrives and we get to celebrate small business' anniversary. But we don't feel in a celebratory mood this year. As women of color, as Black women, our hearts and our minds are heavy. To mourn Ahmaud Arbery, George Floyd, Breonna Taylor and countless others whose lives have been needlessly and violently taken, we are going dark on social media. We've posted resources below if you want to learn more but aren't sure where to start. And for our anniversary, we will be donating a portion of all proceeds this month to organizations that fight against racial injustice and inequality.
Other ways to support the movement (many of which are free!):
- Support Black-owned businesses
- Participate in protests
- Sign a petition
- Read up
- Listen to and amplify Black voices
